MMG Ltd, the Chinese copper miner, announced that its Las Bambas mine in Peru will likely halt production from February 1, due to a shortage of critical supplies caused by transport disruptions from ongoing protests in Peru.

The Melbourne-based miner said supplies were running low and the mine may enter maintenance if the protests do not ease.
