US President Joe Biden will continue talks with congressional leaders on the US debt limit during his trip to Japan for the G7 summit on Friday through Sunday. Biden will meet with lawmakers by phone whilst attending the event and meet with them again on his return to the US. An official at the White House confirmed “he’s optimistic that we’ll get to a reasonable, bipartisan budget deal that can get to his desk next week that he can sign.” US House Speaker Kevin McCarthy has also vowed to avoid a default adding “I think at the end of the day, we do not have a debt default.”
