At least 54 people died and more than 185,000 buildings were damaged in Myanmar by Cyclone Mocha at the weekend, with thousands left homeless, according to state television. Rakhine state was among the worst hit areas while refugee camps in Bangladesh, housing Rohingya Muslims who had fled oppression by security forces, were partially damaged but missed the main force of the storm. Shelter, clean water, food and healthcare are currently the main areas of concern for relief workers operating in Myanmar. Communication difficulties and a lack of infrastructure have made it hard to ascertain the extent of the disaster.
